Pavo Barišić was born on September 9, 1959.
Finished grammar school in 1978.
Graduated from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law in 1982.
Graduated from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Philosophy with degrees in Philosophy and German Language and Literature in 1983.
Obtained a master’s degree in Philosophy of Science from the University of Zagreb with the thesis Hegel’s Practical Philosophy in 1985.
Gained a PhD degree from the University in Augsburg with the dissertation Welt und Ethos. Hegels Stellung zum Untergang des Abendlandes in 1989.
Senior research fellow at the Institute of Philosophy in Zagreb - employed since 1986.
Director of the Institute of Philosophy in Zagreb from 1991 to 2001.
Director of the permanent research programme “History of the Croatian Philosophy and Fundamental Problems of Philosophy” 1997-2002, principal investigator of the projects “Philosophy of Law of Ante Starčević” 1992-1997, “Practical Philosophy and Aesthetics in Croatia” 2002-2006, and “Contemporary Political Philosophy and Aesthetics in Croatia” 2008-20013. Collaborator at the research project “Croatian Philosophy and Science in the European Context from 12 – 20 Cent.” since 2014.
